About Sights – Mtatsminda Park, Tbilisi
Mtatsminda is the mountain topped by the 210m-high TV mast that overlooks central Tbilisi. Located 800-metres above the city Mtatsminda Park (known as Bombora) spreads over more than 1 sq km and has been a popular fun spot for generations. In the days of the Soviet Union, Mtatsminda Park was the third most visited public park in the USSR, Gorky Park in Moscow being number one.
How much does it cost? Entry to the Park is free. If you want to use the rides and amusements you will need to put money on a plastic card that can be obtained from the kiosk at the entrance to the Park. Rides and amusements cost from 50 tetri to 5-6 lari and the card can be topped up at various kiosks located within the Park.
What is there? Attractions include a flume ride, numerous children’s rides and a water play/splash area, a Sartori Roto Techno, mini Mine Train coaster, a bee-themed jet ride, a spinning coaster, Fabbri drop tower, reverse bungee, slide and dark ride.
There are numerous, reasonably priced outdoor cafes.
An 80 metre ferris wheel provides wonderful views of the city.
The Park has beautiful gardens with lots of tall trees, providing much needed shade if you visit during the summer.
There are lots of intriguing, colorful buildings and large scale sulptures.
Stroll around or take the land train to enjoy the sights.
The Park has spectacular views of the city.
How to get there? The park can be reached from the city by taxi (up to 10 Lari) or by the yellow municipal buses (no’s 124 and 90) from the Metro Rustaveli in the city (50 Tetri). The Park can also be reached by the funicular railway from the station in Chonkadze Street.

It looks like a fun place to visit. You couldn’t get into a park like that in the States for free. Everything has an entry fee regardless of whether you are using the facilities or not. 😦

Yes, I’ve been to Gorky Park but it is iconic.
Wow!!! This park is pawgeous!!! I can’t believe that the entrance fee is free!!! I love the coloful buildings and large scale sulptures! They are funny! 🙂
Foreign visitors are surprised that entrance to the park is free. It has wonderful gardens.
Do you know how latebthe ferris wheel is open?
I went there on a week day and there were not many people there. Many of the rides were closed or empty. The others had to wait for the minimum number of customers to operate. But the place was more than beautiful, and the scenery everywhere you looked was heavenly!
Really really impressive surroundings here at the top…nice blog..I failed to come here…but went to Gudauri and Telavi instead..
